I like a good noodle. Ramen is lovely, but so are the half hours I spend of a late evening just noodling around on the piano. This track is the result of such a session, a rare result where I work up a nice-sounding phrase into a full track.
I've long been a fan of Ludovico Einaudi, I've loved his simple yet expertly crafted melodies from long before I got into music production myself. This track didn't start out directly inspired by his work, though you could perhaps say my enjoyment of piano music stems from the same place. But I did use Nuvole Bianche as a reference track once I got into writing Cirrus.
The piano I used on the track is Crow Hill's Vertical Piano. It's got a lot of character, perhaps too much for the track. Listening back now, I think a more traditional grand piano sound might have worked better, it's what Einaudi would use, of course. Deviating from Nuvole Bianche even further, I added some soft strings and woodwind accompaniment (again from Crow Hill.. I really like their stuff!) Finally, I added a little celesta just for a sparkle here and there.
The video for the track was inspired by the dreamy-like nature of the piano. To me, it feels a bit like floating through clouds. Hence the track's eventual title.
